drug offenses in Korea

A huge jump in the number of drug offenders under 30 has been observed in the space of five years, with Korea’s drug-related arrests hitting a new high in 2019. The number of foreigners caught possessing, dealing, and distributing narcotics also tripled, mostly because of the growing number of people using drugs at industrial sites. Last Sunday, the National Office of Investigation’s Detective Bureau of the Korean National Police Agency revealed that there were 5,702 arrests for drug offenses from August to December last year as part of their focused effort to crack down on drug crimes.
