South Korean President Yoon is taking legal action against seven individuals for criminal libel following their allegations that a self-proclaimed prophet called Cheongong had a hand in influencing Yoon’s decision to relocate the presidential office and residence. Yoon has strongly denied these claims, arguing that they constitute an affront to public servants and the people. Cheongong has asserted that he had acted as an unofficial adviser and mentor to Yoon since long before he entered politics, and Yoon has openly acknowledged knowing him. Yoon had promised to move away from the Blue House during his election campaign to be more accessible to the public. However, Yoon has now made it clear that the relocation of the presidential office and residence was an entirely independent decision made solely by himself. Yoon has stated that Cheongong played no role in the matter whatsoever, and that any allegations to the contrary are false and have caused him great distress. Yoon believes that such libellous claims should not be taken lightly, and has thus taken legal action to seek justice. He hopes that his actions will serve as a warning to those who would seek to spread false information about him or other public figures.
