Travelers’ Nightmare: Transport Company Failures Spoil Jeju Getaways

Due to the high rental car fees, tourists are increasingly choosing to bring their own vehicles for trips to Jeju instead of renting them. However, there is a need for caution as some individuals who have used transport companies to transport their cars have faced issues receiving them. Many victims have reported such predicaments. One such person is Mr. Lee Kyung-yoon who, during the summer holiday season, paid a round-trip transportation fee of 600,000 won (USD 448.00) to transport his car to Jeju. However, upon his return, he was informed that the transportation back was not possible. Consequently, he had to cancel his flight reservation and personally bring his car back to the mainland, expressing his frustration and questioning how he would resolve the issue with the car.

There are cases where customers were charged for services they never received, as well as instances where vehicles were never delivered. Some of these vehicles were already on cargo ships bound for Jeju, but due to the negligence of the transport company, they remain stranded at Mokpo and Yeosu ports. The company representative is currently missing, which is making it impossible to unload the cargo ships. Over 200 people may have been overcharged or failed to receive their vehicles, resulting in a total loss of over 100 million won. Those affected are understandably frustrated and are expressing their concerns about the impact this has had on their personal and professional lives. The transport company abruptly stopped operations on the 14th of the month, which is the root cause of these unfortunate events.

A chaotic situation has arisen, causing many people who had reservations to experience setbacks. As a result, those affected are gathering in groups to discuss the matter and potentially take legal action.
